This was a fun exercise to show how easy it is to repurpose Op shop clothes into Princess skirts – an alternative to cheap imported dress-up costumes and a way to be more sustainable.
Originally, I think they were flower girl dresses and featured in wedding photos somewhere 😊 Now there were a few rips in the netting and hanging in an Op shop for $6 each.
The quickest way to repurpose them is to unpick the zip and cut the skirt off from the bodice, cut a bit off the length, and then reattach the skirt to elastic. Both skirts came with ties which I added back onto the waist.
Nothing is wasted - will keep the bodices for any future projects where they will come in handy for use as trim plus the zips will never go to waste.
These are blank canvases, get out the glue gun and add some glitter, stars, bows, and ribbons – let the little one be involved and see where their imagination takes them. Enjoy!
